B2B SaaS ads in Europe
Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads lead, and the setup differs from the US in two ways: consent and language. Google holds 88.97% of European search and Bing 5.34%, according to StatCounter for September 2026. Google's policy requires consent for ad personalization, and for cookies where the law requires it, for people in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Europe is also many markets, each with its own language and its own click price.
Google Ads first, LinkedIn Ads second. Microsoft Ads is a smaller third. ChatGPT ads as a capped test.
Google 88.97%, Bing 5.34%, Yandex 2.39%, Yahoo 1.56% (September 2026).
LinkedIn by country only: UK click $9.16, Netherlands $6.40. No B2B SaaS search benchmark was found.
Treating Europe as one market, and losing conversions where consent is not set up.
Which ad channels work best for B2B SaaS in Europe?
The same two that lead in North America, with a smaller role for Bing. No study ranks channels by region for B2B SaaS, so this order follows from where buyers search and which platforms reach them.
| Channel | Role in Europe | Regional evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | First channel wherever buyers search for the category | Google has 88.97% of search |
| LinkedIn Ads | Second, for contracts of about $15K a year and up | More than 430 million members across Europe, the Middle East and Africa combined |
| Microsoft Ads | A smaller third than in North America | Bing has 5.34% of search, against 9.84% in North America |
| ChatGPT ads | A small capped test | The UK, then 31 European countries announced on August 18, 2026 |
| Meta Ads, review sites, programmatic | The same roles as on their channel pages | No regional evidence was found |
Yandex holds 2.39% of the European figure. Google Ads does not reach searches made on another engine, so that share sits outside a Google and Microsoft plan.
What do B2B SaaS ads cost in Europe?
It depends on the country, and the sourced data is thin. LinkedIn has figures for two European countries. No B2B SaaS search benchmark with a stated sample was found for Europe.
| Measure | United Kingdom | Netherlands | United States, for comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn cost per click | $9.16 | $6.40 | $8.99 |
| LinkedIn cost per thousand impressions | $56.62 | $50.08 | $62.67 |
| LinkedIn click-through rate | 0.55% | 0.72% | 0.52% |
These figures are from ZenABM's 2026 dataset of 211 B2B companies across 29 countries. The same article lists a LinkedIn cost per lead of $120 to $150 for Europe, against $200 to $250 for North America. It does not state the basis for those two ranges.
For search, the only cross-country view is directional. WordStream's comparison ranks estimated search click prices against the US average.
| Country | Estimated search click price against the US average |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 13% lower |
| Switzerland | 21% lower |
| Italy | 25% lower |
| Germany | 31% lower |
| Ireland | 40% lower |
| Sweden | 49% lower |
| Spain | 50% lower |
| Netherlands | 56% lower |
| France | 64% lower |
That comparison covers all industries, uses Google Keyword Planner estimates for English keywords and gives no collection date. It shows that prices vary widely inside Europe. It is not a B2B SaaS price list. The US-weighted figures on the paid ads benchmarks page are a reference point, not a European benchmark.
What do consent rules change for ad tracking in Europe?
They decide how much of the ad click data Google can use. Google's EU user consent policy applies to "end users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland."
The policy requires advertisers to obtain "legally valid consent to: the use of cookies or other local storage where legally required; and the collection, sharing, and use of personal data for personalization of ads." It also asks them to "retain records of consent given by end users."
Consent mode is how that choice reaches Google's tags. Google Ads Help describes it this way: "Consent mode lets you communicate your users' cookie or app identifier consent status to Google. Tags adjust their behavior and respect users' choices."
What happens after a visitor declines depends on the setup.
| Setup | When consent is denied | Conversion modeling |
|---|---|---|
| Basic consent mode | "Google tags are completely blocked from firing" | Based on a general model |
| Advanced consent mode | Tags send cookieless pings | An advertiser-specific model |
For a B2B SaaS account this makes the CRM more important, not less. Website conversion counts can be partly modeled. Qualified stages recorded in the CRM are not. The loop that sends them back is on the conversion tracking and attribution page.
How do European buyers differ?
Deals involve more people and more procurement than in the US, on published ranges. B2B SaaS Buying Committee Size Benchmarks 2026 (GrowthSpree) gives these figures.
| Region | Stakeholders in a deal | Deals with procurement involved | Sales cycle against the US |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | 6 to 11 | 62% to 78% | Baseline |
| UK and Ireland | 7 to 12 | 72% to 85% | 8% to 14% longer |
| Europe, Middle East and Africa, excluding the UK | 7 to 13 | 78% to 88% | 12% to 22% longer |
The publication states no sample or method for this table, so these are published ranges and not study findings.
A longer cycle matters for tracking. The same publisher's Google Ads audit cites a median sales cycle of 84 days, in a sample that is 88% US accounts. Adding 12% to 22% gives about 94 to 102 days. That is arithmetic across two publications and not a measured European figure. It still points one way: Google accepts an imported conversion up to 90 days after the click with a click ID, or 63 days with contact data, so closed deals will often miss the window and the qualified-lead stage should be sent as well.
How should campaigns be set up for Europe?
By country and language, with consent in place before launch. Five steps cover the essentials.
- Set up consent mode first. Consent mode is how the result of the consent banner is communicated to Google's tags.
- Split campaigns by country. On the directional comparison above, click prices differ enough between countries that one shared budget would hide which market pays back.
- Split by language inside a country where needed. Google Ads Help says it uses "search term language, the user's language settings, and preferences" to decide which language a searcher knows. Google gives no advice on campaign structure there. One campaign per language is this site's advice, so each can be read on its own.
- Change the location option to "Presence." Google Ads Help calls "Presence or interest" the "default and recommended option." It also reaches people who have "shown interest in" a location without being there.
- Write ads and landing pages in the buyer's language. A translated keyword that leads to an English page asks the visitor to switch languages at the moment of deciding.
The UK is the simplest first market for a company that sells in English. It shares a language with the US, and its LinkedIn click price in the ZenABM data sits close to the US figure.
How should results be judged in Europe?
On cost per sales-qualified lead (SQL), country by country, over more than one quarter. Published ranges put the sales cycle 8% to 22% longer than in the US, so a single quarter catches fewer closed deals.
Three checks keep the reading honest.
- Compare each country with itself over time, not with a US benchmark.
- Read modeled conversions with care. Where many visitors decline consent, the conversion count in the ad platform is partly an estimate.
- Use CRM stages as the anchor. An SQL marked by sales is the same event in every country.
The case for cost per SQL is in does CTR predict pipeline in B2B SaaS ads.
What are the limits of this data?
Four limits apply to this page.
- No European B2B SaaS search benchmark was found. The cost tables on this site lean on US accounts.
- The LinkedIn figures are vendor data for two countries, and the regional cost per lead has no stated basis.
- The country comparison is directional. It is an undated estimate across all industries.
- This page is not legal advice. It quotes Google's policy. It does not interpret European privacy law.
Frequently asked questions
Do ChatGPT ads run in Europe?
Yes, in part. OpenAI expanded ChatGPT ads to the United Kingdom, and on August 18, 2026 announced 31 European countries. Ads appear below answers for users on the Free and Go plans. OpenAI's own pages carry the current country list.
Are LinkedIn Ads cheaper in Europe than in the US?
It depends on the country. ZenABM's 2026 dataset of 211 B2B companies gives a cost per click of $9.16 in the United Kingdom and $6.40 in the Netherlands, against $8.99 in the United States. No figures for other European countries are given in that source.
Does Google Ads need consent mode in Europe?
Google's EU user consent policy requires consent for ad personalization, and for cookies where the law requires it, for people in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Consent mode is Google's way of passing each visitor's choice to its tags, which then adjust their behavior.
Should each European country have its own campaign?
For any country with meaningful budget, yes. Separate campaigns give each market its own bids, language and cost per SQL. One directional comparison puts estimated search click prices from 13% below the US average in the UK to 64% below in France.
Can US benchmarks be used for a European account?
Only as a rough reference. In the main Google Ads waste audit behind this site's figures, 88% of accounts were in the US. No B2B SaaS search benchmark with a stated sample was found for Europe, so a European account's own cost per SQL is the benchmark that counts.
